I was born and raised in the most sunniest of states, Florida. After going to school in NYC I met my husband while we were both working for NCSY. After getting married I completed a masters in clinical nutrition and masters in education while living in Westchester AND working with students in early childhood. Those years were jam packed! A few years later we decided to move to Israel. During our time in Israel I had the golden opportunity to teach self-defense and nutrition in several American schools AND I got to lead the first ever mountain biking program for Israeli girls. It was awesome. We then decided to relocate to Florida where we work and play with our two little girls.
Food gives us what we need to grow, to accomplish all that we want, and to live fully in this world. A common misconception in nutrition is that it is just about what you eat. While that does play a big role, it is important to take into account other factors such as: emotions, relationships, responsibilities, stressors, thoughts, knowledge, economic state, and availability. That is why the name "Nourishing Neshamas" was chosen. The word Neshama, means soul. And food so often is a mind, body, and soul experience. In order to ensure lasting health and lasting healthFUL choices these three facets of a person must be considered.
And so, I blog, I share thoughts, concerns, and facts, with you. I strive to make food and nutrition a forethought, not an afterthought. My hope is that we will all merit to live a healthful life together.
